On the way out of town before the bridge go left down a footpath. About t0metres down there is a spot to access the river hidden from the path to leave belongings.
Broomhead reservoir, Burnley
Park on new road. Walk through the gate to big opening. Easiest to acces the deepernwater on right hand side. Reservoir is beautiful. See photos.
