The Science
Linseeds are a powerhouse of lignans, plant compounds with phytoestrogenic properties that mimic estrogen in the body. This can help balance hormone levels,by supporting oestrogen metabolism. They’re also high in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and may alleviate pain during menstruation and PMS symptoms. The fiber in linseeds supports digestion, aiding in the elimination of excess hormones.
Sunflower seeds are packed with vitamin E, a key nutrient for hormonal regulation. Vitamin E supports the pituitary gland, which controls hormone production, and can ease symptoms PMS, specifically breast tenderness and mood swings. They also provide selenium, a mega antioxidant that supports thyroid function. Thyroid being the key gland for maintaining hormonal balance (and metabolism). The healthy fats in sunflower seeds increase production of sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone.
Almonds are rich in magnesium, which helps regulate cortisol (the stress hormone) and can reduce PMS-related irritability and bloating. They also contain healthy monounsaturated fats, essential for synthesising hormones. Additionally, almonds provide vitamin B6, which supports progesterone production thus helping to regulate the cycle.
Add to a Clean Diet
Incorporating LSA into a balanced diet promotes menstrual regularity, eases menopausal transitions and enhance overall endocrine health through their synergistic effects on oestrogen, progesterone, and stress hormones. Win win win!
